Lightening the load

A bass player will typically be on stage for a couple of hours. A heavy bass is no fun to play, no matter how good it sounds.

In our experience, good tone relies on tonewood mass at the centre of the body rather than at the edge.

That's why we, like other great builders such as Sadowsky, always chamber our bodies to relieve the weight of the finished instrument.

Further, excess mass on the headstock (far away from the nut where mass has little acoustic impact on string vibration) contributes to neck dive and overall instrument weight. Our headstocks are also chambered beyond the tuners. The devil is in the detail!

We think your shoulders and back will thank you for owning a Bassworks Bass...
